If building a base in the Dunes, a Scanner Room is incredibly useful. It is recommended to keep track of where the Reaper Leviathans reside and give those areas a wide berth. It is recommended to approach the sinkhole with caution, as there is a Reaper Leviathan that is always close to it.Įven in the daytime, the Dunes are quite dark and murky, making it difficult to see threats. Reaper Leviathans often wander close to the hydrothermal vents so tread carefully.įour Sea Crowns are located within the sinkhole of this biome. Most of the Flora and Coral is also located near these, alongside Lithium and Rubies. Gasopods can be found, alongside their eggs, near the several hydrothermal vents in this biome. These leviathans and the PDA summary of the biome heavily discourage players from entering the biome. ![]() It is also home to many dangerous types of Fauna, the most notable one being the eight Reaper Leviathans that patrol the open spaces of the biome. The Dunes feature vast, sandy plains and dunes, sometimes littered with various types of rock structures. One of the five Sea Emperor Juveniles can be found here after the Sea Emperor Leviathan Eggs have been hatched. Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.Ī Sanctuary Cache can be found within the meteor crater.Īn Alien Vent Entrance Point is found in the Dunes. This biome also harbours a large crater from a meteor impact, which can be found close to the border with the Northern Blood Kelp Zone. Another two, smaller wrecks are also found in the Dunes near the Sea Treader's Path border.Ī large sinkhole can be found approximately 220m south from Wreck 6 (The one closest to the Northwestern Mushroom Forest.) The Dunes Caves are found within along with a Cuddlefish egg, located right in the center of the sinkhole. One can be found near the Northwestern Mushroom Forest, having seemingly slid down the sandy dunes from the forest. That should take you directly to the cave entrance. The Dunes is a biome located west from Lifepod 5, on the edge of the map, bordering one of the Grassy Plateaus, Sea Treader's Path, one of the Safe Shallows, both of the Blood Kelp Zones, the Northwestern Mushroom Forest and the Crater Edge. Therefore, to find the cave entrance, head to lifepod 12 and then go directly west for 348 meters. You can see that lifepod 12 is exactly east, 348 meters away. To help you out, I have a screenshot here of the egg at its location in the Eastern Mushroom Forest, so you know what to look for.įor reference on where exactly the cave entrance in the Eastern Mushroom Forest is, here is a screenshot from exiting the cave. The system in the Eastern Mushroom Forest is larger, and the way to find the egg is to just keep following the caves to go deeper and deeper (downward) Every time you go downward, make sure you LOOK below you, as you will end up descending right on top of the egg (which may be why lots of people miss it) In each forest you will find a giant mushroom tree, and if you swim around the base of it you will eventually find entrances to the cave systems underneath both separate trees. The Eastern Mushroom Forest is bordered by the Koosh Zone (AKA the Bulb Zone.) The Western Mushroom Forest is the one that is bordered by the dunes and the Northern Blood Kelp Zone. A lot of people don't realize that there are TWO giant mushroom trees, one in EACH of the mushroom forests. On the wiki it says that the fourth egg is in the caves underneath the giant mushroom tree in the mushroom forest. Here's where a lot of confusion about the number of eggs comes in. To make sure that you know the difference, here are screenshots of what the Dunes Impact Crater looks like.Ībove: Image of the Dunes Meteor Impact Crater (this is not the location of the egg.)īelow: Image of the meteor at the center of the crater ( still not the egg location.) I'm going to repeat this many times: The Dunes Impact Crater is Not The Location of the Egg. ![]() The egg's location is between the two large vents pictured above. There are two large vents surrounded by several small vents. These two photos below are the Dunes Sinkhole, the actual location of the egg.Ībove: Image of the Dunes Sinkhole, with two visibly distinct large thermal vents.īelow: Image of the vents inside the Dunes Sinkhole. To make sure you know the difference, here are screenshots (sorry for bad quality) of the Dunes Sinkhole. The egg can be found next to the glowing plant between the two large thermal vents. The Dunes Sinkhole is very close to a reaper leviathan, and it has two large thermal vents inside it, surrounded by several small vents. ![]() Lots of people think that the Dunes Sinkhole is the same as the Dunes Crater. The egg location is the dunes sinkhole, NOT the dunes impact crater.
